Let me tell you what it was like in the old days
In the old days they didn’t have cars. The shortest way to get from Yamauchi to Imari was to walk over the mountain. That’s right, walk over the mountain. You know how many trail markers they had? Just one. This one.
In the old days they didn’t have video games. You didn’t get high scores or bonus points or medals for doing what you had to do. You climbed to the top and this was your only reward.
Nowadays you hike for fun. Not because your family depends on it. If you break a bone, you take a holiday and recover. In the old days they didn’t have holidays.
Yeah, life sucked. Because it was meaningful. Things that are meaningful often “suck”. That makes real accomplishments all the more savory.

Bah! Back when I was your age we didn’t get no stinkin stone markers! The school was on top of the mountain, and after school we had to climb up to get back home anyway!
Anyway, looks like a nice hike. 😉

You must be that guy with his hands in his pockets. Bad habit, that.
Still, good blog, regardless 🙂
